Wow, has this site and forum changed since I was last here. Several years ago I picked up the MM DVD’s and bought a cheap guitar and amp to learn on, and I used to browse the forum regularly but didn’t post much. Unfortunately, back then I didn’t have a lot of time to dedicate to learning guitar due to other family priorities, so I never got past the “beginner” stage. I also had some money issues and I ended up selling what little gear I had to help pay the bills. Things are much better these days, and I should have more time to try learning. So, I’m looking over the current lesson options to see what is available now. If anyone has any suggestions on which lessons to start with that would be great. I’m also open to any suggestions on starter guitar options. There are so many options out there now I’m not sure where to start. If anyone has suggestions for a good starter guitar under $300 that would be great!

Yes it is a great time for starting with the inexpensive guitars and even entire packages now. Sign up for Sawtooths email list, they will send ads, they just finished another deep discount sale advertising 60% off (nearly unbelievable pricing strategies.. cant figure it out but who cares, take the coupon and run lol). Watch some of Guitar Max’s video reviews about inexpensive guitars, he is right on track with his opinions. Even entire package like guitar plus amp and soft case etc, can be had for under three hundred bucks these days, all totally playable. I dont have a Sawtooth electric but I got a Sawtooth acoustic and totally happy with it, had a lot of fun jamming on it last night for a couple hours. I saw Guitar Max’s video about EART, so I got one of their electric guitars and it sounds and plays fantastic (and only $299). The comments on his videos show tons of fans of Firefly, they are selling for only $150 for a guitar you can go all the way with, beginner to advanced.. times are good.

For courses to start with, my opinion is same as ever, Dougs course plus Speed Kills (the warmups) plus Sarahs Melodic Principles.. then Easy Modes. Just play at least a little bit every single day rain or shine..

      I'm an intermediate student of Metal Method. I play seitannic heavy metal. All Kale Seitan! ♯ ♮ ♭ ø ° Δ ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬
And on the Seventh Day, Mustaine said: ∇ ⨯ E = - ∂B / ∂t ; and there was Thrash; and it had a ♭3; and it was good.

Thanks a lot for all of that info! I will check it all out!

        Cheers!
