Hey everyone, hope it’s been a good week so far!

My pops started guitar after seeing the Aldo Nova music video for “Fantasy” and in the same year subscribed to Metal Method (1982). He only told me recently that this is where he started. I’ve been playing in his shadow for about 12 years now, I started when I was 15. Didn’t really take it seriously until about 22 and most of what I’ve done in the last 5 years has been in the style of Hendrix/Mayer.

I’ve been looking at the MAB’s Speed Kills package and Dan’s Ultimate Shred/Infinite Shred Packages since those are brand new concepts to my playing personally. My theory foundation is pretty good (and I have about 3 other masterclasses that cover guitar music theory) and my ear has gotten a lot better since the COVID lockdown, been playing about 15 hours a week.

Is there another course anyone would recommend to start out with that is focused on Metal concepts or would the three I mentioned be good enough to get started? Or should I go in a completely different direction? For reference, I can crank out a pretty convincing “Bark at the Moon” solo #1 (minus that scale run at the end), and I can improvise in the blues scale musically. Thanks, looking forward to crossing this bridge!

      come inside come inside

i spent a few years in the fort bragg/fayetteville area back in the late ’80s.

since you’re already playing bark at the moon type stuff then yes i think your picks are in the right direction.
oh and kudos to your dad for pointing you in the right direction musically.

      good rockin…

Speed Kills will improve everything about your playing and the exercises will last forever.

Sarah’s Easy Modes is really good if you want the most interesting & usable mode course in the world (based on playing patterns not abstract theory).

      I'm an intermediate student of Metal Method. I play seitannic heavy metal. All Kale Seitan! ♯ ♮ ♭ ø ° Δ ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬
And on the Seventh Day, Mustaine said: ∇ ⨯ E = - ∂B / ∂t ; and there was Thrash; and it had a ♭3; and it was good.

Oh that sounds perfect. I’ll add that one to my cart. I think those 4 will actually set me up right, now that I’m comparing all the material in them. Nothing too redundant from what I can see. Kale Seitan! (I love me some maple seitan breakfast sausage)
