      A summer contest:
Name a piece of gear you shouldn’t have purchased…doesn’t work as designed or for your intended use. Don’t pick something you bought but don’t use.

I’ll go: The Livid Electronics Guitar Wing
It works, it functions, but it gets in the way of playing because of the guitar clamp. Sarah told me the pads on the Guitar Wing remind her of the 80s. Okay, I agree. Now I keep it off my guitar to let me play better. The Guitar Wing’s buttons are fine. I should have skipped this purchase.

Metal Method is helping me across the board!

these ear plugs. definitely do not buy “earasers”. first, they only reduce certain frequencies not all (on purpose) and that does not seem medically right. second, they made a loud concert seem even louder to me, not softer, precisely because of their frequency cut, so I had more ear fatigue after using them, not less. some charismatic drummer-sales guy at GC talked me into trying them, said his guitarists loved them… a very bad choice. stick with foam plugs which work.

here is the data from their web site showing their purposely biased curve.

      I'm an intermediate student of Metal Method. I play seitannic heavy metal. All Kale Seitan! ♯ ♮ ♭ ø ° Δ ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬
And on the Seventh Day, Mustaine said: ∇ ⨯ E = - ∂B / ∂t ; and there was Thrash; and it had a ♭3; and it was good.

      Virharmonic’s “Voices Of Prague

It does exactly what it’s supposed to and does it well. I just don’t make the type of music it is designed for. Nothing I do makes it sit well in the mix, and from what I’ve read it never will.

If anyone wants it, I would sell one of my licenses for $100. 😁

Line 6 Spider I combo. Boughtto fill in for Marshall Valvestate that was acting up. Ugh. Gone. Sold for enough money to buy Deoxit and now the Marshall is working.

Fender acoustic. Sounded awesome but was truly painful to play. Southpaw Guitars gave me $75 for it toward a much nicer Takamine.

There’s more, but I don’t want to hijack the thread.

      #1…
      my acoustic/electric guitar.
i didn’t tryout the guitar plugged in and later found out the electronics suck.
the guitar itself plays great; for an acoustic.
but i traded two cheaper electrics for it just to have for teaching thru the guitars for vets program and for a local acoustic all-star jam coming up.
i suspect after that i’ll not use again – unless i get replacement electronics for it.
kinda wish i still had my harley benton back instead.

      #2…
      brian may red special.
it’s a great guitar and i do use it.
but i have had to make accommodations for it.
      it’s neck heavy.
the burns single coils are incredibly clean – which for certain things is great but for harder rock stuff requires additional overdrive pedal. that’s why i bought the east river drive by electro-harmonix.
kinda wish i woulda bought a prs instead.

rock and roll ain't pretty; that's why they picked us to play it.

      1) lf you like the the acoustic otherwise, try the iRig Acoustic Stage. It is pretty amazing.

      2) I had the same neck heavy issue with my Schecter V. Moving the strap button fixed it.

i’ll have to check out the irig thing.

i tried to move the trap button.
        i added counter weight.
those things made it some better but did not eliminate issue.

I love this thread, Tony! Over the years I have bought many things because the ads for them were so compelling… I had to hear for myself if they were actually true!
      I’m over that now. LOL

I over paid for a classical guitar with electronics onboard. Chinese made. The add was not so true. Has a cheap feel and the tone is mellow, but far from being satisfied for what I paid for it.
