must watch this trailer! it is hilarious.

MIghty Uke is a feature documentary that travels the world to discover why so many people are turning to the simple ukulele to express their inner music. mightyukemovie.com

As a metal guitar player I have to add: “know your enemy.” lol

      I'm an intermediate student of Metal Method. I play seitannic heavy metal. All Kale Seitan! ♯ ♮ ♭ ø ° Δ ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬

      it’s a horrible instrument.
despite the last woman saying it makes people happy it does not make me happy.
      it has an irritating sound.
being stabbed in the ear with an icepick would be more enjoyable.
the mighty uke may as well be call the mighty Puke.

rock and roll ain't pretty; that's why they picked us to play it.

Lol. “stabbed in the ear” is how I feel about some instruments too. :-/ I’m not really into that uke sound either. Or mandolin or violin, flute or most brass.

I think it’s a great instrument if people are into it, what I dont like is hearing people say “I started uke because it seemed easier than guitar” or “I tried guitar but it seemed too hard so I gave up, then tried uke”. I mean, I dont like the idea that people are scared of guitar or gave up on whatever their first choice was.

I wonder if small acoustic guitars (like student size?) tuned to open tunings, or the more ‘convenient’ tunings, could satisfy a lot of the same interests that the uke has in this regard. Like the cowboy chord players who like DADGAD or open G etc.

Overall I like the idea of a small compact instrument, so uke is small thus convenient, to take around places, like parties or traveling on vacations.. that’s nice. Same reason I like my electric mini guitar (3/4 size) and I’d even have a whole collection of mini electrics if I had the space 😀 The mini’s are just really fun, somehow. I took my mini and amp to a farmers market last week and played pentatonic noodles over jam tracks and it was great fun, entertained some random people, easy to pack, light to grab & go. So I can really see the appeal of the uke in that regard. Make music everywhere 👍

I would just as soon have my hand put in a blender than hear ukulele. That instrument should have been laid to rest when Tiny Tim was.
