i checked out the hot 100 and there are definitely songs with guitar from taylor swift to luke combs.
not really “rock” guitar — that’s for sure.
but you have artists like mgk recruiting youtube guitarist sophie lloyd.
plus you have guys like nuno touring with rhianna.
then of course you got mothley crue; kiss and alice cooper who continue to tour playing guitar centric music.
the music industry seems about as fractured as the movie and tv industries.
there’s so much available and so many ways to consume that past commonalities don’t really exist like they used to.
just think of tv having gone from three channels to cable to satellite to streaming and podcasting.
even shows like stranger things that went viral ended up being short-lived.
there still seems to be plenty of local guitar music around here.
    even bands doing original music.
    tho mostly classic rock covers.
and in the gear department i’m seeing a shift from full and half stacks to smaller combo amps and even ampless floor units going direct.
i have an ampless pedalboard i run direct now.
and on that board i have a klon clone…the electro harmonix soul food.
    long live rock \m/

this is high school days for me.
love this tune & this album.
and since i hate down-tuning i’m playing it in standard in the original key.
had to modify the riff in the chorus to make it work.
nonetheless, i like it and it was a fun one.

    this was so much fun.
such an infectious groove and melody but always hated the instrumentation.
then i came across foo fighters doing it live with rick astley and loved it.

this is one of the songs written between the quiet riot 2 album and when Randy left for ozzy. sometime in 1979. i guess the band didn’t really like it. i obviously do. i dig the main guitar riff and the chorus is catchy – an anthemic sing-a-long. the backing track is made from a demo version of the song that’s been floating around online. there’s no official release of it.

    …and still eating healthy.
on the left is where i started on 1-2-2023.
on the right was just a few days ago 10-12-2023.
about 35 more pounds to reach my goal.
    feeling much better.
in fact, got a call from the ortho doc to schedule my next set of shots for my knee with the torn meniscus but told them i didn’t need it. pain and inflammation appear to be gone.
as for my wife she not only has had a significant weight loss but after her carotid artery surgery and subsequent 50% blockage she now has zero blockage. docs were stunned.
    we’re feeling quite blessed.
