You’re new to the Forum! Join the crowd.  We’re all new to this Forum.  We recently migrated from BB-guitarlessonforum.com. The old Forum, created in 2005, is still a great place to research everything Metal Method.  In the previous Forum we had very strict rules and guidelines about what to post and what not to post.  We want the new Forum to be an open source for all guitar related information.

      1) We’ll make this easy: Feel free to post any guitar related information on our Forum. If we don’t feel that it meets our standards the post may be removed. Please don’t worry about any repercussions for posting something that is removed.  We want you to feel comfortable posting anything guitar related.

      2) Any guitar related video available on YouTube or Vimeo is welcome here. We are not going to judge if it is legal or violates copyright infringement.  We’re leaving that up to YouTube and Vimeo.  If we’re asked to remove a video by the rights holder we will remove it without question.

      3) All guitar related instructional material is welcome here. We only draw the line at information that is obviously a competitors advertisement. We don’t ask you to determine if it’s an advertisement. If we deem the post to be  a competitor’s ad it will be removed. Free lessons from competitors that don’t include product advertisements are welcome.

      4) Ads for equipment, software, effects, and anything else guitar related are acceptable.

      5) If you’re a guitar instructor with individual students you’re welcome here. You can even promote direct to your local base. Skype guitar lessons to individuals are welcome. We only draw the line with instructors that are promoting to a mass market.

Another difference is that we are not currently registering students who have purchased our lessons.  We had done this because it didn’t seem fair to anyone to provide full lesson support for people who had downloaded files without paying.  It took a lot of time to create and maintain that system and when we moved to the new forum it was dismissed.

I used to think karma was hooey.  There seemed to be no consequences for most wrongdoing, including stealing, and that made me angry, which only increased my suffering.  Now I see things a bit more clearly…

If you have purchased our lessons, THANK YOU!   And if you downloaded them from P2P or some other “sharing” system, we might not know that, but you do, and so does Something/Somebody far more powerful than Santa or even “Mom and Dad put together”, to quote Bart Simpson.  🙂

        Hello all,
Long time listener, first time ca….Sorry. Wrong format. Anyhow, the name is Al. I have been playing guitar since ‘85. A friend of mine and myself pooled our money together back in ‘87 and sent off for the lesson series. I was 13 at the time. Between this lesson series, my ear, so many great players, song books for them, and headbanger’s ball, it was really kind of hard to not progress very quickly.

But seriously, while the rest of the guys were getting into all sorts of trouble back then, this kept me in front of my amp, learning, and challenged. Thanks,Doug.

I have landed modern orchestral shows, done country& jazz gigs to pay the bills, as well as recording an instrumental ep to get my shred out/on. I also ended up going to college and studying music further.

I wouldn’t have done ANY of this without that spark your series ignited in my 13 yr old self.

Hey Doug, Hey Sarah, I was finally able to get in here. lol… I felt as though I was locked out of my house 🙂    But I have decided to pick up the Ax again after a year long layoff… ( actually quit )  I thought I was done with guitar, but I guess the guitar isn’t quite finished with me.  I just bought a new BR Rich Draco with the Floyd Rose. I have never used a whammy bar before. I bought it online. I received it and the bar is off but the thing is locked up by the head and also locks on bridge.  Can I just unlock the top and be done with it? I am currently not using the bar.

On youtube keyword Mike VinSavage to view my tunes...

      Hi Doug, an Sarah,

I guess I have a question, Say like I have learned a song,….and I wanted, to play it for the Members of Metal Method.

And I was playing, the song along with a recourding by say Iron Maiden. I recourded this,an put it on

Metal Method. Doug,do you an Sarah find this feasible?

I think it’s great, that we can come here an show case our talents with the other members… What we know, or have learned on

guitar. I’m thinking,in terms of where I can get the other members,as well as yours,an Sarah’s input on how my playing is

going….or if there is something I can improve on. I feel it’s always a great honor,an privlidge to hear good word from you Doug, & Sarah.

An also from the other Teachers as well..:)

Or any constructive input, or knowledge on music, from our members here in Metal Method.

Sharing, what I know, with everyone here makes it fun,an I feel connected with everyone…

To me Metal Method, has always been about Great Educational Value, & getting involved Artistically as well..

      thanks again,Joe…:)

Welcome back, Mike!  I’m not sure I understand your question…  Even if you don’t use the bar, the locking nut will help you keep your guitar in tune.

      Hello everyone!

I have the entire Metal Method DVD collection. Unfortunately, I’ve been lazy in learning. I’ve spent literally years foolin around and never getting anywhere on the guitar. I am still a beginner. Well….things are going to change! I have the time available to me now to spend hours a day learning, practicing and progressing. I’m happy this forum is here, for when I find myself needing some inspiration and support!

      Looking forward to this challenge!

        Thank you for the welcome!
I have started collecting a few different guitars. I have a Jackson USA KV2T King V, a Gibson Captain Kirk SG, Ibanez Sam Totman Iceman, Ibanez Paul Gilbert Fireman, Fender John5 Triple Tele Deluxe among others. I don’t have anything fancy for amps….just a Fender G-Dec3 & Mustang, Line 6 Spider Jam…just practice amps. Good enough for now. I have a Boss GT100, Gr55 guitar synth, Strymon Flint….that’s about it. My addiction for guitars and gear exceeds my ability to play!

May I say something here as well!

I have been a Supporter, of Metal Method since 1985 but I remember rite around the

time Doug Marks first started Metal Method back in 1982.

Back in 1985 I had pretty much, purchased all of the Metal Method Courses that he created back then.

An then I also was a very honored Supporter, of Miss Sarah Spisak as well with her Lessons through Guitar Sarah!

I knew pretty much at that point about Guitar,an Music in general!

But Metal Method, & Guitar Sarah, had a lot to offer me in terms of more Musical Training!

I was really thankful, for both of the above Music Teachers an what they had to offer..

The Guitar Lessons, had opened up my eye’s, an my ears to a better source of Learning Metal Guitar!

Although I will admit that my Guitar Courses, through Metal Method needs to be again re-purchased because lets face it.

That was over 30 some years ago!  An after that time, Tapes seem to have served their usefulness..so yeah I need to again revise

my Collection of Metal Method Learning Soft Ware….wich is now what we call it in this year of 2016!

I still have Sarah’s Guitar Sarah Course, wich I treasure so very much because she also autographed the Course for me as well!

Her doing that was, an still is a big deal to me. Because to me, I’ve alway’s respected her an I really dig Women Guitar Players..:)

But to make a long story short, I have the deepest respect an honor for Musician’s, & Music Teacher’s..An they work really hard to give the

General Public, & the Consumer the very best in Musical Teaching. It takes a lot of time,an energy to create Music Lessons  an to present them

to the General Public..  It is also how they make their living!

To me I feel any unjust stealing, or vile disrespect to any Music Teacher, or Musician, through their Lessons, or their Web Site is something that really

hurts,an saddens,& angers me as well! I’m not really shure, how those kind of people that do these kind of things to Musicians,or Teachers could even

hold their heads up..or even wake up in the morning feeling that they did the rite thing!  How could these people even look, a Musician, or Teacher straight

in the eye an feel good about what they did?  I want to firstly say, my Teachers past an present wich is Miss Spisak, an Mr. Marks, are two of the finest

people in the Music Teaching Industry! They like the other Teacher’s here in Metal Method, have been here for as long as they have been because of the

High Quality & Excellence of their Guitar Lessons!  They are whom they portray themselves to be! They are dedicated, knowledgible, an True Rockers

in the scence! An in the field of Educational Musical  knowledge as well!

Music Teachers, have also showed people how to play other Musicians Material as well…I just love that an I think it’s totally the Cats Behind as well!

I feel Music,an the Teaching there of….  Is a Universal Language & it’s here for everyone to enjoy!

An a big part of this whole thing, is to please respect our Music Teacher’s, Musician’s & Students out there..Please Support them an continue to Support them!

It’s what they Love to do, it continues to help them to progress ahead in Success to bring better Teaching Products to the Consumer!

Love,& Treat Our Music Teacher’s as you would want to be treated!

For anyone new To the Metal Method Forum, I would be honored to say Welcome!

I hope your being a part of Metal Method is very Enjoyable & A Wonderful Educational Experience as well….Rock On!

This might be humorous but I think I wrote this so long ago. I decided to look again and found out you replied. It’s been a few years now and I am still terrible at guitar. I still have the lessons and I think about trying them again. I do struggle with the understanding of it. I’m sure if I start understanding it then the ability will come.

Love the courses, CBC, Monster Power Chords, Melodic Principles, Easy Guitar Modes Lesson 1, but my biggest issue has been sticking with one course all the way through & not jumping around. When I see something interesting, I want to learn it now! any advice would be appreciated, thanks

I purchased the 10 disc course a few years back and have worked through various parts of it in the time that I’ve owned it. I’ve been playing for the better part of 25 years now, and still find that there is so much more to learn.

Keep up the great work with all of the courses!

my biggest issue has been sticking with one course all the way through & not jumping around.

i’d suggest getting an old school paper spiral notebook and start making a daily log for each practice day, just list what you practiced and the practice bpm’s, pencil it in, and be strict about writing it out quickly before putting the guitar away for the nite. when the list of items gets repetitive to write down, then just group things into small practice sets like “doug’s w26-29 mode patterns” etc. then after a little while doing that, start each practice by glancing at what you were practicing previously to see if you are on track or not. after a while it becomes a habit of going for many weeks on the same daily practice sets with hopefully increasing bpm’s and/or going in sequence thru the courses. It is much easier on old school paper notebooks because it’s always handy to throw around and glance thru quickly. search the forum for pics of “progress logs”. and if all this works out, and then you make an album and become famous, name the next album after me ;-D

      I'm an intermediate student of Metal Method. I play seitannic heavy metal. All Kale Seitan! ♯ ♮ ♭ ø ° Δ ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬
