So this year we went to IL to spend Thanksgiving with Dad as we didn’t want him to be alone (his girlfriend passed four yrs ago so the holidays are rough). We also decided that since his birthday is in Dec., we would go ahead and celebrate his birthday and Christmas. Evidently he had the same idea because he handed me s gift wrapped Pigtronix Disnortione Micro.

I had a chance this weekend to add it to the pedal board and mess with it. It may not be metal, but you can get some sweet Gilmour tones if you don’t go crazy with the gain. I would say that you could get some early sabbath, and Smahing Pumpkins tones as well. It definitely has a Big Muff thing going on, but it’s the in between (middle of the road on gain) tones that seem to shine. The parallel is good for bluesy or clean lead stuff. If I didn’t already have a really good overdrive, I would probably be on it. The series side gets gnarly. Goid amount of high gain fuzz. I think if you were to push it with a mud forward overdrive like a ts, fulldrive 2, or keeley red dirt, you could tighten things up enough for metal.

Anyhow, fun pedal to experiment with even if it isn’t my go to dirt.

I just picked up the Earthquaker Devices Plumes overdrive after watching this demo by Jeff Loomis. It’s based on the TS-808 (Tube Screamer) circuit but to my ears, it sounds much better–and is much more versatile–than a comparably prices Tube Screamer pedal.

My biggest fear is when I die, my wife will sell my guitars for what I told her they cost.

I like both of those overdrive. Right now I’m using a fulltone Fulldrive 2 mosfet for overdrive. Yet again, another variant of the ole Tubescreamer.

I think it’s kind of a testament to how good the original is that we are using three different hot modded screamers.
