I just snagged a ticket to a tiny restaurant show with Allan Holdsworth. Total surprise appearance in town and not really listed anywhere. Now I’m wondering. What’s the one interesting question I could ask. (ha, “here’s my guitar pick, can you please bless it?” lol)

I’m sad to say, that I guess I watched Allan Holdsworth’s final show. I was able to get to the small venue very early and get a front seat and watch him play from just a few feet away which was phenomenal, and also, the musicians in his band, I’ve never heard a drummer that great in my life, just mind blowing how good the drumming was, and bassist as well. The guitar playing, well, what can I say, it’s been said about Holdsworth many times, and it was awesome to see in person how easily the playing flowed through his fingers, and all the equipment he was using and how it was set up and how he used dynamics in his pedal setup to make music.

So, hats off to one of the all time great guitarists, and a reminder to celebrate music while the getting is good.

I saw Allan Holdsworth about a half-dozen times and every time he was absolutely amazing.  It’s not just that he played fast–he played incredibly interesting things fast.

My biggest fear is when I die, my wife will sell my guitars for what I told her they cost.
