Nah. Soy muy pinche. (I’m cheap) the secret is not paying big bucks. $25. a night for a unadvertised brand new 1 bdrm apt, 5 blocks from beach. Walk everywhere, eat cheap, etc. Here are the photos i had used as profile photos. I will post below and a video of local musicians working the beach. They had no clients tonight since it was a rainy monday night which is unusual really.

Here as we were leaving a group looking to find tourists to play for i decided to video for you since you asked. I gave them 100 pesos each ($2.) since it was a tough night with no customers. I get inundated all day long with art jewelry sellers, fake cuban cigars, massage and pedicures, fruit sellers, beggars and wood carvings. The musicians.. well, I can relate to them.

Well we saw Bob Marley, Charlie Parker and Jesus today. Thought musicians in wood carvings all might like to see them. Feel sorta weird to keep posting these here as this isnt flickr… yes the water is turquoise here. Not many places like the caribbean for that unfortunately. I have taken many sunset snapshots over the years but these new cmos chips in the smartphones sure have nice color saturation and resolution is adequate.

Take a guess what country they were carved it too? I will give you an easy hint- the nation whose gdp is the lowest in the western hemispere and the most horrible and grinding poverty exists. They have truly gifted artists whose work unfortunately remains rare and undiscovered. CNN, Fox, trafitional news probably missed this part of their story and should cover the nice side of the country like this. The people are cool and contract and do nice construction work where they find work here. The museum is awesome and off the beaten path. The owner is eccentric and for 30 years collected these and large stones.

Well Sean is the latest. This Cancun dance club has all their employees wearing “Hip Hop saved my life” shirts. Go Go girls dancing on small stages facing the street to attract attention so you can enter and pay 200 pesos ($12) for coke and endure the crowds. We went the night before to Coco Bongo to see the multimedia (live dancers, lights, lasers, smoke, huge LCD Screens) and $80 cover each. All you can drink Open bars and oversold ticket standing room only shows with no space to move makes an interesting night to say the least. My friend got wacked by 3 whole-lotta-rosie sized ghetto moms pushing their way violently… ugh.

Madrid guitarra stuff. “Know how many guitars you have today, but you don’t know how many you will have tomorrow”. I am not analyzing this message but they are selling something. The poster says live rock lives…and making guitars by hand still exists…

No planned concerts except taking my amiga to dance in Ibiza in a week or so for the closing summer parties. Yeah Madrid its cool and really is nice.
But all of Spain is nice was in 19 cities since 2015 and soon will be 120 days here since last november. Wish i could move here, residency is abit expensive and invested in CR already…. but not yet maybe a few more years… want to be here before more changes arrive and europe changes. Have you been here? The transportation on trains and metro is really nice. We were in an Irish Pub today in downtown and all music was Classic Rock…. wow.

Love that pic of Jose Romero’s shop. Art just seems everywhere in cultures like that. Around anywhere in the U.S. nearly every shop looks the same from outside, every strip mall the same, etc, no artistry or unique flavor at all. Just a few biker chop shops in shady areas locally have murals on their buildings. Adds to much character to a place. Great pic!

Yes. Art is everywhere if you leave the states. I have more photos but sticking to guitar stuff. The store decore is artistic too. Even some graffiti is interesting. I hear ya about the strip mall culture, the corporations and chain restaurants are not for me and what I love about Europe and most everywhere I go. So many family business’ exist in all of Central and South America and like here in Spain where you eat in family owned restaurants where they cut their own meat and buy from local fishermen, they love their work and their customers and the waiter/owner is a professional and not like in LA with some wannabe rap-star or actor working as a waiter who hates his job. Small business here they hang local art on the walls and actually repair things like Shoes. I bought shoelaces a block from me for $1.00. I bought a rectifier off the shelf to repair a power supply. I eat stuff that comes direct from farms too, eating fresh fruits and vegetables and non packaged food, non processed food is easy too.

Madrid street guitarists. The electric guys have batteries mounted on wheels to roll right in the subway and jam between stops. Pretty cool.
