I was just reading complaints about this forum on Facebook… some people prefer Facebook, in my opinion, because they don’t want to take the time to invest in a forum community.
So I wanted to say thank you to Doug, Sarah and everyone at Metal Method who have produced such excellent lessons and a great forum online. I have no real idea how much effort and energy goes into running a website, but I can imagine it’s an immense amount.
Lately I’ve not been as active here (or with my instrument) due to adult responsibilities of life… but I truly appreciate being able to come back here to renew a calm sense of community when life gets chaotic.
(Still waiting on MM bass lessons, too… 😉 )

Thanks Paul. I can understand the complaints coming from Facebook. You haven’t been around recently so you may be unaware of the spam problems we’ve experienced. It became so bad that we needed to upload an archived copy of the Forum and lost a couple months of posts. Truth is, it’s difficult for a small company like Metal Method to provide the security that Facebook is capable of providing. The problem has been resolved (for now) but it does require constant attention. Good to see you here.
A lot of people play less guitar in the summer due to warm temperatures and long days. They’ll be back!

I’ve seen what’s going on, Doug… I haven’t been posting much, but I’ve stopped by once a week. That’st why I wanted to thank you for all the hard work you put into this.
It’s your life’s work, I know. And you should be very proud of what you’ve done here.
Thank you for all you’ve taught me.

Thanks, Paul! We have put a lot of time and work into creating a good forum and of course all the members made this possible. Fighting spambots has consumed resources that we would have preferred to invest in other ways! 🙂

I totally agree, Paul.
I like the fact that it is a small and friendly community here. Maybe a little bit too small and too calm at the moment.
And yes, it takes some time to participate in a forum community. I would like to do it more often than now. But since my time is rather limited, I usually rather go for practicing guitar. I guess that this is true for some other members too. Anyway, I am here to stay and to post at least sporadically.
Soon there will be my one-year MM anniversary. I intend to give a small review on that. But first, I’ll be in Spain for two weeks of vacation. 🙂

I prefer the smaller forum community. I have several FB pages but I get sick of the pimping. It’s like Match.com used to be. FB will tell you that your page has umpteen hundred new likes and then tries to get you to spend money on it. Then if you do the likes all of a sudden stop or at least aren’t what you hoped they were. The problem with small forums is anonymity. If you get a prick troll he/she can wreak havoc until a mod steps in. On FB everybody knows who you are, where you live, etc… This is a good little community. There’s no pretentious idiots lurking around.
Cheap Guitars (with some exceptions) play just about as good as expensive ones. It's your ability combined with an awesome amp that makes the difference.

Thanks MK. That’s why we’re paying so much attention to spam and security. It’s worth it!

I really like these closed forum communities over things like Facebook groups.
