not really a lesson in what to play (scales, licks, etc) but more about how to approach the solo/lead.
pretty good stuff from a legend.rock and roll ain't pretty; that's why they picked us to play it.

Rik is one of the most amazing players… Triumph was incredible. Thanks for posting this.

Emmett can still shred!
Cheap Guitars (with some exceptions) play just about as good as expensive ones. It's your ability combined with an awesome amp that makes the difference.

Thanks for posting! I got a tip I can use- start the pick scrape with more speed and then back off. 🙂

I used to own Rich’s VHS Starlicks video. Most of it is on youtube. There was a ton of great stuff on that video not just a bunch of mindless licks like the rest of them. One of the cooler things was he taught you to play Midsummer Daydream and Moon Child acoustic pieces both amazing!

I absolutely LOVED that Starlick’s Video! I’ve searched eBay in hopes that someone has put this into DVD format but have yet to find it. I know some of it is on YouTube, but the quality of the clips I’ve seen are horrible.
I saw Triumph live 3 times in the ’80’s. They were phenomenal live.

I’ve found the video in VHS format online. The into to that video was killer! Been thinking about ordering it and converting it to digital. If I do I’ll stick in on my private YTB channel and send you a link. That was about the best SL video they produced. MAB’s (had that one too) wasn’t too bad either but it was just a collection of licks.

That is great. A good guitar solo is not so much about the notes you play as it is about HOW you play them.
