Here is a cover I did of Queensryche’s “Redemption”. Still needs work (drums need a lot of tweaking and less room mic), but close enough. I played all guitars and bass, and sequenced the drums. Guitar sound is Peavey Revalver 3.5. Bass is Amplitube 3. Drums are Superior Drummer 2.

Thanks Doug. Little rusty (it’s been awhile), but good enough for a cover. I also did a lot of left handed playing in this. I usually record right handed, but decided to be brave on this one.

Thanks for sharing, Carlton! And the screenshots are very cool, too. 🙂

Yeah, it was either the screen shots, or shooting a video of me. I opted for the screen shots. 🙂

LOL! I think I’ll do my next video like that. 😉

It was originally going to be a video of my transcription of the song, with the music playing in the background, but that is just a bit too much work.

🙂 It looks and sounds as if you worked really hard without doing that!

Nah, I just recorded a bit here and there, while figuring it out. I love playing around with all those plugins, so that part is more fun than work. The only part I still dislike very much is drums. I have a lousy ear for them… but try anyway. I have a real drummer at my disposal, but that doesn’t help me with the transcription, and he likes to control his own drum sound. We save that headache for originals.

Sonar and the plugins, including AmpliTube and EZ/Superior Drummer are a LOT of fun!
Several years ago I got a nice electronic drum kit and studied a lot of books and videos. I found it to be very enjoyable and I think it really helped me with writing drum parts.

I haven’t yet. I’ve never got any complaints. Knock on wood.
