youtube & facebook both blocked this so i uploaded to google drive.
      learning this for the band.
i’m just doing the rhythm & the guitarist will do the leads in this one.
this should give him a nice practice track.
i think it came out pretty good if i do say so myself.

Now is that you playing? If not how did you remove the leads?

        yes. that’s me playing.
i wonder how people get these backing tracks that appear to have priginal vocals, bass and drums and minus only the guitars.
i played the rhythm twice for the full sound.

For those authentic backing tracks, I think people rip the isolated parts from games like Guitar Hero. Not sure. Some of them seemed leaked from studio type people but I think a majority are illegal rips from the games.

if i can’t find a good backng track at https://www.guitarbackingtrack.com then i look for some good full gutar pro tab and open with tuxguitar and then xport as a midi file load into reaper and assign bass and drums to the appropriate track. sometimes a synth or piano track too and once in a while some sort of vsti for the vocal track.
sometimes i’ll play the bass part myself and sometimes i use a vsti.
for the vsti i use https://www.dskmusic.com/dsk-bassz/ for bass and https://www.powerdrumkit.com for drums. and typicalmsome sort of dak vsti for any other instruments from piano synths strings or b3.

I agree that rips of the isolated tracks that were inside games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band have been the biggest source in recent years.

Another “workaround” approach that has been around for many years is to use audio editing software to exploit the way lead vocals are typically located in the stereo mix, taking a stereo recording as input and producing a mono recording (minus vocals) as output:

new link. deleted old one. had some mistakes i just couldn’t live with. you’ll hear some of the missing parts from the previous version.
still some sloppiness but i think have all the rhythm parts now. \m/

sounds fantastic. to be super critical, the timing seems to lag a bit in the verses chugga chugga part. The tone sounds awesome to me. Altho I’m not one that grew up with the album so I might not know the subtle aspects. It is hard to believe it’s a cover since it sounds so close to being the real thing.
