This is a Michael Kelly Patriot Instinct Scorched – modded W/ Barre Knuckle Mule pickups. It is my Christmas/Birthday gift from my very generous family! I’ve wanted a single cutaway guitar for awhile but any kind I’ve bought or tried out at Guitar Center or Sam Ash never was perfect, there was always something that didn’t feel right – until now!
This beauty is perfect for me. So here is a list of the things that make it just right for me. First it sits so balanced on my right leg. Also its not so heavy. I had an Agile 3100 that was close to 11 lbs too heavy! Where it sits on my leg puts my right hand in perfect position, not to close to the bridge or close to the neck. Speaking of the neck this is my favorite part. The profile is somewhere between a Fender modern C and a Gibson slim taper D. My hands are medium size. I can palm a brand new basketball but not once it has been used. The neck is so comfortable. I can pretty much leave my thumb in one position when shaping open chords and I never mute out the high E when my technique gets sloppy. A Barre chord is easier to shape while sitting also. On most of my guitars I have to be in the classical position to comfortably form a Barre chord.
The body has a nice deep carve too it. The finish and clear coat is flawless. The fret ends are hand filed very smooth. Im not a flame maple guy but this top is beautiful with the stain combination. There are two other color choices but they don’t WoW me.
Ok the pickups- I am a pick up junkie if there was a pickup anonymous I should go. These pickups like most, have subtle differences. These have alot of clarity and no muddiness. In this guitar they lean towards the brighter side. Of the big pickup companies the closest pickups I’ve owned would be Burstbucker 1-2 they have an edge to them. The dimarzio’s Transitions are very close and Duncan Pearly Gates but slightly less hot.
The only negative I had was the toggle switch rattled. I will change that out and swap out the strap buttons for locks. The company was very nice to work with and the owner, Tracy Hoeft was very personable. I’ve attached pictures with the flash on and off.Tell me and I will forget ,show me and I'll remember, involve me and I'll understand

Thanks BigW
Im loving it! I’ve had it since Tuesday. Haven’t touched another guitar. It feels like true love!!! Wonder if I should talk to Doug instead of Dr. PHIL about this.

Looks pretty slick! I prefer more of a D shape for my necks, wondering if an in between C and D neck has the shoulders of a D neck bit with just a touch more thickness down the neck?

Motley I could try to explain it but what I will do tonight when I get home is trace the profile of a Fender C an Epiphone SG slim Taper D and the Michael Kelly at the 1st and 12 frets and show the comparisons.
