Just traded my 1997 Fender Strat Blonde for a Gibson LP Studio HP. Finally decided to sit down and learn how to really play and stop piddling. Had the Sweet Child of Mine VHS years ago and that is about all I every really learned. Saw this course and figured Doug taught me one song when asked so why couldn’t he teach me how to really play.

Really looking forward to buckling down and learning. Hope I downloaded correctly. Had a few issues and some of the tools seem a little complicated to me but I haven’t started the course yet so hopefully it will explain how to use everything.

      Really excited to get started!

      Cheers,

Welcome to the Forum Dead.  You shouldn’t have a problem with the course.  Just play the video (mp4 file) and access the additional materials in each week’s lesson.  One thing that some don’t understand, to play the Guitar Pro files you must purchase, download and install Guitar Pro.  I’m glad that you’re posting to the Forum.  You’ll see that it is very helpful to interact with others along the way.

Hello Dead. Don’t be intimidated by Guitar Pro. There is a basic tutorial on this site. The online tutorials at the GP site are also very good. Within one evening you will know everything you need to know to get started with it. It’s really a fantastic tool which will help you with the exercises.

Thanks all. Looking forward to getting going. Trying to get the lessons on my iPad for convenience. Is this possible?  Just need the videos to play. Will use my desktop for guitar pro if needed. Was trying to not have to move everything all the time to practice.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to be more mobile in your home?

      Thanks in advance

Yeah it works on ipad. They are just mp4 files, they will import into iTunes. I use my low end $50 amazon fire tablet (android) and just copy the directory to the tablet memory. Get the GP tab player app, it is amazing to play along with exercises straight from the tablet, anywhere you want. Whether or not the GP player app works along side one of the ipad guitar amp packages (like garageband) so you can plug your guitar into the tablet at the same time, I dont know. I plug my tablet’s headphone jack into my small amp’s “aux in”, and play along with headphones from my the amp’s phones jack. There is a thread on this forum about using ipad, you can check for that. In my progress video you can see I’m playing along straight with my tablet propped up on my practice amp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ioRoKVvmoY
