I’m getting around to starting up the new course but it’s been so long since I’ve used Guitar Pro that I’ve forgotten how to move the stuff over to my iPad.

I bought the lessons on DVD and then went from downloading them to a 128GB flash drive and transferring them from there to iTunes on my PC and finally syncing my PC and iPad together. I was so proud of myself I wanted to throw my hat up in the air just like Mary Tyler Moore but then I thought about the Guitar Pro files.

I have Guitar Pro on my iPad I just haven’t used it in so long I done forgot how to do all that. Can somebody please help me so I can pay tribute to Mary Tyler Moore before she gets rigor mortis to settle in.

I’d also like to give a shout out to both Doug and Sarah for the above and beyond excellent customer service. I originally bought the downloads but my PC didn’t have any more room so I got in touch with Doug about switching my order to the DVD’s and he was all no problem at all we can do that. Shortly after that Sarah got with me to make sure she had the right mailing address and a day or two later they were in my hands.

And then while I was in the process of transferring the DVD’s I found out that the 9th lesson DVD would freeze out at the ten minute mark so I got back with Doug and he had that particular DVD in my mail again within a day or two. That’s the kind of service that’ll keep people coming back.

It’s actually pretty easy.  Just follow these steps and you should have no problem.

    1. Start up Guitar Pro on the IPad.

    2. Tap the plus sign (+) at the top of the Guitar Pro ipad window.

    3. Tap the “From the Computer” prompt on the ipad.

    4.  You should see a prompt in the middle of your screen that lists a URL beginning with the letters http:.  Type this entire URL into the URL bar of your browser on your computer.

    5.  You should now be able to drag and drop the Guitar Pro Files.

I actually use GoodReader on the Mac (along with Guitar Pro too).  It take a little getting used to BUT using both apps it allows me to put the entire contents of the Metal Method course on my ipad broken down by week.  That way I can have everything with me everywhere I go.

Thanks my good man. Are you talking about doing all this while I have my iPad synced up to my PC? I’m assuming you are but you being an old soldier and all you know what happens when you assume something.🙈🙉🙊

You are right about the assumption part.  I took it for granted that your computer and your ipad are connected to your WIFI.  Sorry about that.  I wasn’t thinking…  The stemps that I posted will only work if your have them both connected on your WIFI.  If you cannot connect them to WIFI then there is another way.  You can do the following:

    1. connect the ipad to your computer

    2. In ITunes, select your ipad from the list

    3. Click on the apps TAB on the top

    4. In the File Sharing section select “Guitar Pro”

    5. Click the add button below the list and then add files.

This seems a little more convoluted but if you cannot connect via WIFI, this way shold work.  I have not tried it this way though.  I had to look it up.  I never connect my ipad to my computer.  We have 100 Mbit internet at home so I have never really needed to connect other than the day that I first set it up.

    I hope that helps…

Not yet. I’m waiting to hear back from them. I should still have a download available to me to put on the PC I’m dealing with so I’m stuck until I can get the GP6 downloaded. I didn’t realize this would of been a problem when I started this thread that’s why I didn’t bother to bring it up. At first I was getting all pissed off over the whole thing but what can you do so I’m just going to chill out and hopefully hear back from them soon. Like by tomorrow or I’m going to start the whole pissed off routine all over again cause that seems to work so well for me.

Hopefully they will respond quickly and you can get up and running.  If they don’t respond to your email, they have a Facebook page you might want to try and contact them through.   I also saw on that page that they are talking about the soon to be released Guitar Pro 7.  Anyway, good luck…

Thank you!  I saw in a later post that you are waiting on help with something…  I don’t know what that is, so please let me know (see my post later in thread).

Pimpstick’s previous thread about ipad here:

Adding Metal Method Lessons to your iPad – iPhone

Adding Metal Method Lessons to your iPad – iPhone

I cant check his video at present so not sure if it covers the GP6 part.

I'm an intermediate student of Metal Method. I play seitannic heavy metal. All Kale Seitan! The glutens will be eaten with relish!
And on the Seventh Day, Mustaine said: ∇ ⨯ E = - ∂B / ∂t ; and there was Thrash; and it had a ♭3; and it was good.

I’m so sorry for not getting back to this thread sooner. Everything is fine now Guitar Pro got back with me and late last night I was finally able to get all the GP files transferred over to my tablet. Thanks to everybody for trying to help.

Glad to hear it.  It’s great when everything falls together…
