Google Hangout – Thursday 12/22/2016

Like to join me at 4:00 P.M. Pacific, 7:00 P.M. Eastern?  The topic of conversation is suggestions for our Forum and YouTube channel.

You must have a Google + account to participate.  The first eight people to sign up will be in the first session. If more are interested we’ll add sessions later Thursday evening. I changed my Forum email address to public.  You should be able to contact me through that.  If not, send your request through our contact form.

• A webcam is helpful but not necessary
• A microphone is necessary if you would like to participate.  Without a mic you can still listen and watch.  You can also text questions.
• Headphones are recommended
• Must be signed into Google

Darn, can’t make it Thursday, but I anticipate I’ll be joining these hangouts from time time, sounds like fun! All I can say is the more things get shared on YouTube, social media, etc., well, we know how things can take off and be so huge these days. For the forum, it’s like your source of knowledge for anything guitar, just promote it as free and anyone can get an answer with whatever question they may have! I think a big part of spreading word comes with a bunch of us here on the forum sharing Metal Method promotions and everything too. 🙂

I have two tips for video calls in general.

first, in advance, go to https://hangouts.google.com/
just to check that the google call page loads ok in the browser.

second, I found a setting during the last call (theres a little box in the window to access the call settings), to set the video resolution down to 360P, because it defaults to 720P (HD). This helped make the call go smoother on my slower connection because 360P uses a lot less bandwidth than 720P.

which, the URL? Well, going to the URL guarantees you are signed in etc, and you will see a sidebar that shows incoming calls.

By the way did anyone mention- “Pajamas OK” LOL 😀

That was fun. Hope to see everybody next week. Dustin, I was in a rather large hangout last week sponsored by YouTube. I had the same problem. It took me a half hour to get in then I couldn’t figure out what was going on. Next week I’ll open the hangout earlier so everyone can become comfortable before we get started. If you have a headset you don’t need to mute your mic if your surroundings are quiet. The headset that I was wearing is awesome. This is similar, the same brand: https://tinyurl.com/z9mgcsu

When I was giving Skype lessons when a student would get the C920 it made a huge difference.
