If you want a reasonably priced kit, you could get one from byoguitar.com. I don’t believe they have a headless kit, but you could always just get a strat kit or something. If you need a headless kit, you can still get a stray kit, but cut it up to adapt it so it could be headless.

The problem with merely cutting up a strat kit is that he’d be left with no way to tune it. Even with a Floyd, it seems unlikely he’d have enough travel in the fine-tuners at the bridge for it to be practical. The kit he posted has a Steinbergerish looking trem. I’m not sure if anyone else makes headless-friendly bridges.

You could just make the necessary cuts for a headless guitar tremolo bridge, or you could just bolt on a fixed headless guitar bridge. The guys at byoguitar take custom requests at the shop so you could call in and say that you want a kit, but if they could just do the routing for whichever brand headless bridge you want. Kinda thinking about a headless strat project now. xD

The thing with converting to headless, is that the guitar body has to be cut out near the bridge (not easy compared to buying the body pre cut) and also the cost of the tuning bridge which is really where the headless technology sits, just the cost of the bridge+head piece for retaining strings is almost the cost of this kit, for the authentic ones. Which makes me wonder about how legit the kit is. Carvin has diy kits too, probably assume hi quality there, I thought they had a headless kit before but now they don’t seem to list one.

Just for price comparison, this kit at around $200 total, compared to the lowest end official headless (now Gibson) Steinberger spirit gt-pro at $400 shipped new (supposedly has lame pickups that need replacing to sound proper but is also neck-thru), it’s really about the fun aspect of building from a kit than the total cost I suppose. Tho compared to the Allen Holdsworth signature headless (HH2 model, about $2000) the kit is crazy cheap.

This new review is of a chinese knockoff copy of a strandberg headless for $300 finished new on aliexpress (says also, pickups must be replaced):

Can you #goheadless for 300$? Chinese .strandberg* copy by Grote
