Is Windows Media Player a good way to watch the video and access GP6?
This laptop is running on Windows 7 which IMHO blows!

you will need guitar pro software for the the gp6 files to work.
or there is a fre alternative call tuxguitar – but there’s an add on that has to downloaded for gp6 files to work.
windows media player will not help with gp6 files – only for the video.rock and roll ain't pretty; that's why they picked us to play it.

I ‘ve had GP6 for over a year and never figured out how to do anything with it till now. It is extremely cool! I figured out how to pull the lessons in and I watched Doug’s tutorial. I figured out enough to play my exercises, loop and change tempo now. That should get me started.
Thank you for the reply! Shawn

Hey Shawn. Glad that you got it all worked out. Especially glad that you got GP to work properly because it’s really essential for learning this stuff as quickly as possible.

Has anyone ever had trouble with their GP6 falting then just shutting down? Really stinks. I believe it is a Windows 7 issue and have submitted a couple error reports to GP. No answer thou. Says no just in time debugging in visual studio enabled. I’ve spent several hours trying to find this? Updated it too with no luck.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

My GP6 does crash somewhat regularly, and also sometimes it glitches during playback, but I’m on a very old OSX so it may not directly apply. I found a workaround which eliminates many of these problems. It has to do with GP6’s low level sound library I believe. The workaround is: change the OS system setting for the sound driver to playback thru a different device than the one GP6 is using (ie set the system to use any other device, such as a bluetooth headset, or virtual soundcard). then go back in GP6 and change it’s sound device setting to the device you really want to use (headphone out or etc). Doing this eliminates my GP6 glitch problem, with the slight drawback that system sounds are going into a black hole. So there is some bug in how GP6’s low level library is sharing a particular sound device with the system sound device, at least on OSX.

Thank you for the reply. I’ll try to see if I can do that. It really blows that after you get everything right where you want it and start to play, it shuts off.
