People that have ordered the course are participating in a separate blog.  If you haven’t received a newsletter explaining that, let me know.  The blog limits comments to 200 characters.  Here is my response concerning certification.

That is planned for the certification process.  We are dividing the course into three sections.  There will be a quiz after each section.  For certification you will submit a short video for instructor review.  The quiz is free, the review won’t be free but won’t be expensive either.  The instructor will make sure that you’re ready for the next level.  Plus, students can include certification level in the signature on the Forum.  This will help people looking for answers to know that the person answering the question is qualified.  I’m still working on the details.  Even after we’ve begun the certification process it will continue to be a work in progress as the system is refined.

The certification was a factor in me buying the new course. I am looking forward to the challenge.

    Hello Doug!

    Happy New Year!

Just wondering how we can participate in the separate blog? Enrolled in the complete course, but haven’t received any e-mails regarding this.

    Thanks in advance!

Happy New Year to you too.  There are still several parts of the course that are “a work in progress.”  The certification process is part of the course that I haven’t had time to complete.  It’s one of my projects for 2018.  Hope you have a great year.  Stay in touch and let me know how you’re doing.  Don’t hesitate to record a video of your playing and send me a link.  I’ll take a look at it and comment.

The separate blog that I referred to (above) was for student participation.  The blog ended within a couple of months of the post (by mid 2017).

Thank you for your fast feedback, Doug! Too bad the blog ended. Looking forward to the certification process though! It’d be great to show you a video of my playing once I’ve reached a certain level. As suggested by you, perhaps when reaching the end of the Beginner Course would be a good first time?

What exactly would you be looking for to make a proper judgement? Which exercises or techniques would be helpful? (speed & accuracy, specific licks, barre chords, chord changes?). Also wondering about bpm specifics for these exercises… What would be a good speed to perform these?

Just came across this video via the Facebook group: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pmsRQOpPY0&feature=youtu.be. This makes me wonder if checking in more often wouldn’t be a better idea. What would be a good interval to do so?

Hope you don’t mind all the questions!

A short video of whatever you’re working on would be adequate.  I also think that a video every couple of weeks would be great.  If you’re having a particular problem with an exercise let me take a look at it.  I can probably save you from much frustration.
