Was wondering if you guys know of any good cabinet VSTs laying around out there. My current setup is having the ‘preamp out’ of my amp go straight into my audio interface and then right into Reaper. I’ve tried that LePou thing but maybe I’m not using it right cause it doesn’t make much of a difference. I just want something where I can have my really bit crushed signal coming from the preamp out to be turned into a normal sound going through a cab VST. Oh and also, just got EZ Drummer last week, totally rocks. I don’t have a MIDI controller to make my own beats but with all the premade sequences laying around that they have, I can pretty much patch everything together to get what I want. Totally worth the $150

I use one called “Rock Amp Legends”. It has a billion nice tones.

You can also take guitar pro files, export the drums and put them into EZDrummer. EZDrummer is great.

If you don’t want to use GP files, regular old midi tracks work really well.

Just looked up LePou, this looks pretty awesome. Here’s a video to make it work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2L8iXXl9dpE

Hmm that two notes thing looks pretty slick, might need to give that one a whirl. Thanks for that. 🙂

NADIR works really really well for short impulses, 64 bit and the amazing price of free http://www.igniteamps.com/

The manipulation capabilities inside ReaVerb (when used in zero latency mode for guitar of course) can add a lot, but in general, there are so many good cab impulses out there now, a good IR loader with minimum CPU hit should be fine

I had a quick look for some good impulses to link, Ryan Harvey said his Catharsis ones are hard to find now as they are now part of the TSE plugins, I think.

You’d have a hard time not being able to make SOMETHING work with the Redwirez Free set http://www.redwirez.com/free1960g12m25s.jsp

If you have something speific in mind, Tone Vampire is pretty awesome: http://tonevampire.blogspot.com.br/

What do you mean by bit crushed signal from the preamp? I’m doing a lot of live recordings lately where I take the preamp out signal from the amps, as well as a DI before the amp. 99.999999999% of the time I take the DI and use an amp sim instead of the real amp, but I have forced myself to get good enough at using the actual amp and then using impulses to simulate the cab (still WORLDS less trouble than live mics picking up all the nonsense in the universe). Either way I’ll use impulse responses at the very end

Not the greatest recording in the universe but, here the two amps’ preamp output was recorded and I added Simpulse Jimmy Free impulses to them http://www.wilkinsonaudio.com/blog/simpulse-jimmy-free-until-end-of-august/

The standout here for me was the first try of the free Bass Professor MKII, I really really liked it for this http://reaperblog.net/2016/09/free-plugin-stige-bass-professor-mkii-vstjsfx/

Well I guess what I mean by bit crushed is the overly distorted buzzy sound. I’m not using an amp sim, not do I want to. I’m using distortion coming from the preamp tubes. and so there’s a lot of buzzy distortion that I want to be cleaned up with a cab sim and an eq.

Ahh then yeah, just some cab impulses and youll be well on your way! Give those ones I made for the music shool a try, they can be fun, I included a REAPER FX Chain, and you can bypass the amp sim and just use the cab sim

Thanks pipeline. 🙂 Will let you guys know in a few days if I get it to sound right. Getting the guitar’s sound set up just right for the first time is proving to be tedious! Once I get things right, I’m just gonna save the project as like a template and then just use that whenever I want to make something and then save it as some other project.
