I ‘m almost finished modding the Hondo Les Paul. Had to attend a funeral and then had to wait on a payday. The electronics aren’t working right so I ordered some new pots and tonight I am gonna sit down and try to get it hooked up right. This dude is heavy and it has a really awesome tone different from the RR. The Retrotron pickup I added really adds to the tonal variety. Work I’ve done so far:
Added GFS Vintage 59’s to replace original Dimarzio humbuckers
Added A GFS Retrotron Humbucker in the middle position
Replaced most of the original electronics
Added two new caps split between the tone pots and the volume for the neck and bridge pickups (.15& .22 paper wound)
Added a push pull tone control to activate middle pickup as per Gibson’s wiring instructions.
Replaced machine screws that were being used as strap buttons with stock buttons.
Cheap Guitars (with some exceptions) play just about as good as expensive ones. It's your ability combined with an awesome amp that makes the difference.
Looks great. I hope you do a demo
Lookin slick.
Bring hair metal back!
Bitchin’!
I ordered a computer cable for guitars and it should be here this week. A demo should follow shortly.
